"The Arts" is a term that’s usually said in the plural, but it’s rarely practiced that way. Actors, dancers, painters, sculptors, puppeteers, musicians, and the many other craftspeople that collectively make up The Arts rarely join together to enhance each other’s efforts and their audiences’ experience.

In the words of Jude Lucas, Artisitic Director of ART, "Unlike film and movies, theatre isn’t voyeuristic. Theatre is an interactive communal event that can change people’s lives. But because we are competing with video and film, we as theatre artists need to heighten what we do. Rather than digitize our art form, we’re trying to heighten that impact by pulling together all the art forms in a united vision."

Arroyo Repertory Theatre is a professional not-for-profit theatre organization that has been a Southern California fixture since 1983, presenting a wide array of theatrical entertainments ranging from musical theatre to classics to independent films to modern dance to presentations created for audiences with special needs.

As the proprietors of The Old Town Music Hall, ART was able to expand from a 120 seat house to a self-sustaining 200 seat facility, complete with restaurant, gallery space, rehearsal space and a gift shop.

In recent years, the company has focussed it’s activities in Pasadena because of the area’s exemplary commitment to education and community.

ART has been recently invited to become the professional company in residence at La Salle High School. We will be performing our regular season there, at the newly renovated Linda Grindstead Theatre. We will also be performing a summer show in the ampitheatre which will combine professionals and students.
